Shiny Object Syndrome is one of the MAIN REASONS you are NOT getting paid as a coach.

It is NOT because you are not talented.

It is NOT because you need another certification.

It is NOT because your website isn’t optimized correctly or your do not have enough traffic.

STOP hiding behind the excuses that are keeping you broke.

Let’s face reality this morning…YOU ARE STUCK in creation. You get a HIGH off creating. You associate MORE PLEASURE to creating than to having to go out and sale.

The ONLY reason I can say this to you today is because I WAS there. Until someone rattled my cage of comfort and was willing to be real and raw with me, I was blind.

He was right. I was scared. What would people think of me? What would my parents think? What if I failed.

All of this…EXCUSES. Plain and simple. Until I MADE a DECISION. A TRUE decision. One as Tony Robbins describes…a true decision means to cut off any other option. You decide to go this way and you go. PERIOD.

Yes I know this is a bit raw today. We live in a time where coaches and people want to dilly-dabble around and issue to make people feel good. I’m tired of it! We NEED to be held accountable. If we are going to SERVE the world. If we are going to SHARE our DIVINE TALENTS, we have to STOP hiding.

Today I choose to rattle your cage because I care. I want you to WAKE UP and see what is possible for you.

We are not liberating ourselves or others by being stuck in creation.

Before you create, you must ask yourself these two questions:

Is this going to make me money today or tomorrow?

If I take this action or create this, will this generate leads?

If the answer is NO, don’t do it. Do the action or actions that WILL make you MONEY or BRING IN Leads for you today or tomorrow.

Once that is complete, THEN you can create.

This ONE change of focus for me, has completed SHIFTED my life. I went from a place of few clients and leads to having clients and conversations with leads several times a week.

I want you to know, the world NEEDS you and they HUNGER for you. If you continue to hide behind your excuses, no one will ever know you or experience your contribution.

Coaches, IT’S TIME TO WAKE UP.

STOP SUCKING and CRUSH IT.

The first step towards your success online is awareness. Yes, The simple awareness that in order to make it online, it is the choice of your habits, not the habits themselves that count.

We can choose, right at the outset, who we want to be like. We can be like the 3% who get to do it all online and crush it, or the 97% who go broke or bald trying.

The difference is, the 3% have better habits and a sensible strategy to boot. As opposed to the non strategy and poor habits of most of the 97%

So, how can we move away from heading into the black hole of failure, to up and onto the golden pathway to castle Utopia? Simple..

Just do the opposite of what the 97% do, and YES, model the habits of the other 3%..

You see, 97% of Internet Marketing is BS#, It really is. It has to be. If confusion didn’t reign within the online marketing space, then it would all be so simple and no one would buy any products.

If no one buys any products then no one makes any money.. SIMPLE, right?

The 3% who succeed have one thing in common, nearly all of them are prolific product creators. The whole of the Internet is driven by content, so you are either in the driver’s seat or you are being driven by it.

In other words, you are either a creator of content, or you continue to buy products and make the creators, rich.

The NEED is out there, product sellers are just feeding the need, and in some cases, they are feeding the GREED.

Many of the 97% just want something for NOTHING. No work, nothing…

Even though people KNOW magic push button systems don’t work, they still seek them, hoping one day they will find one that works.

In other words, they don’t want to spend the time to learn how to do something, and then go do it, they just want to press a few buttons and get RICH..

Wouldn’t we all? However the 3% who succeed live on little planet called “REALITY”.

So who are the mysterious 3% who CRUSH it online, and how can you join them?.

They are the people who quietly go about their business creating product after product, course after course, slowly (sometimes quickly) building up their online publishing or service empires.

Here are 8 habits, most successful online entrepreneurs seem to posses that earn them a place in the 3% club.

They rarely buy products. Instead they concentrate on creating and selling them.

They create products that people want, Not necessarily what they themselves like or want. They find a hungry crowd and go feed it.

They build their businesses on a steady foundation. They do not rely on any one single traffic source, and are constantly looking out for new ways to increase their business.

When learning something new, they learn one thing at a time, and become competent at that, before learning something else.

They treat their business like an actual business and not like a hobby. They spend time making their business successful, instead of just hoping it will be.They spend their time creating plans instead of spending time creating noise. They don’t keep bitching about how bad it really all is or who’s fault it all is.

They look at what other successful people do and model that.

They are totally 100% Bullet Proof. No one single thing can ever shake them enough to stop doing what they do. Death is the only way out…

They continuously take action, even if things are not perfect, they will get it going. Perfection doesn’t exist, it’s a fantasy. Trying to be perfect is enough to kill off any business before it gets started.

If you are not yet making money online, don’t despair. Think about what it is you are doing wrong:

Are you buying every new product out there, but not acting on anything you learn?

Are you just reading stuff, but not learning anything?

Are you learning one thing at a time or are you trying to learn everything at once?

Are you going through the motions, but not really taking ACTION?

Are you serious enough? Do you want this badly enough?

Whatever it is you are doing, I wish you all the luck in the World with it, but to be honest, it doesn’t come down to luck.

You create your own luck in this life, and the more work you put into anything, whether that is a relationship, or your business etc. The luckier you will get.

If you keep on doing what you’ve always done, you’ll keep on getting what you’ve always got. To think otherwise is madness. To create permanent change, YOU have to change.

If you haven’t made it online yet, it’s not someone else’s fault, it’s not your circumstances, it’s not your environment, and it certainly isn’t the Gurus (most people blame them).

It’s your decisions. Make better decisions and make your life better.

Have a great day

Keith

Kate Swoboda, aka @KateCourageous, has several things to say about living courageously and making money doing what you love! Here’s just one:

“I think it’s critically important to stand in your own authentic truth and I have a saying, you know, “You don’t leave one job that you don’t like only to go into doing the work that you love and setting it up in such a way that isn’t actually fulfilling,” and I sometimes like to ask the question, “Are you running a business or is your business running you?” I think I definitely hear a lot of people talk about the struggle to find their authentic selves. I think it takes time. I think it takes giving yourself some gentleness and some space to see what works for you.” –Kate Swoboda

Give and you shall receive, that is what I have read in the onslaught of self help books over the last 4 years. On some level that simple principle has slipped my mind. Not completely of course, my wife and I have been giving small $100ish gifts to individuals in our community, needing help. But we have never given anything that I would consider major.

I have noticed that I am more than willing to give money or offer time when I have more than enough. But in my temporary, broker feeling moments, I cling to my money like my life depends on it. Of course this logic makes perfect sense, and we can justify it in many different ways.

The inner dialogue may go something like this…

How can I give if I donʼt have enough to even pay my bills?

If my wife and I are short on grocery money how can we give to the food pantry?

I need new tires on my car so I am going to work Saturday instead of helping Habitat for Humanity.

I would love to go to dinner and buy for the whole extended family, but that would take the electric bill money.

Years of learning how to manage my money allows me to make harsh decisions like these in a split second. Somewhere deep down inside I know that I need to reverse the order, I want to see something new.

There is more to cause and effect than what we see. We think gifting that money to X,Y or Z will make us broke. That may be true temporarily, but I want to see what is on the other side of holding back for fear of temporary discomfort. I know on an energetic level not spending it on X, Y, or Z will keep us in a place of not being able to.

I just made a bold decision, I am giving my car away. Thatʼs right, my in laws love my little diesel Jetta. I bought the car a year ago when my wife and I decided to sell everything that had a payment attached to it and live more freely. It has been a good year and I have spent some quality time restoring the car with new paint, tires, suspension, I even fixed all the oil leaks. They are wanting to go out and buy one but, are “not quite ready”.

In meditation one morning a thought flashed through my head, they would really enjoy owning and driving my car. They would probably be willing to pay market value for it, about $3,500! I could use the cash to go get that low mileage Miata that a guy offered me the other day. It would be a lot more fun than the Jetta. My mind flashes to a scene of me cruising with the top down, like I loved to do in a Jeep I used to own.

What if they do not have the $3,500. They could sell something or get a small loan. But the thought of them scrambling to pay for an old used car did not feel good to me. If money was not an issue, I would just give them the car. But, Then what will I do. I donʼt have the money to buy another one. We are on a strict get out of debt program and have not penciled in buying a car. A conglomeration of thoughts jumble my mind… stop!!! back to silence.

Act from a giving, loving, abundant, sharing heart and always do what feels good. I got the message. The very act of releasing the old car will open up channels for the new to come rushing to me.

I am getting excited about the process. What amazing opportunityʼs will come from stepping out on faith and opening up this space in my life? I have been holding onto the belief that I need money long enough. I am deciding in this moment that I do not “Need Money”. I only need to take action from what feels good and the money always shows up exactly when I need it!

I am personally starting to experience a slow moving, subtly, pervasive force that is saying, Relax, your needs are met dude. You are not “Getting There” you are there. Stop calculating the results, give everything you have to your dreams and stop worrying with the day job. There is nothing to win. Daily life is the reward. Experience what you want to experience NOW! I am listening.

This blog is a channel for me to share some of my experiences and choices. I am jumping in the deep end and surrendering my creativity and passions to God, source, the universe or whatever you choose to call it!

I am choosing to hold a vision of my life as I want to see it, I hold a belief that anything I want in life has the potential to happen in a nano second, if I truly embody that belief. I am intentionally, I will no longer expect any certain item or thing to come into my life. I will expect certain feelings that I desire to shape my surroundings.

Money is great and I have made some in my life, though it did not feel like I thought it would. It is also a part of my new vision, but not at the fore front. I want to experience wealth as a by product of doing what I love doing.

I am meditating on my life’s vision daily, doing my best to allow my good feelings to guide me. Taking action on those feelings, heading in the direction of my dreams. I want to teach and share, we can pursue our passion and make money just being our authentic self! This blog is a public experiment, stepping into a space of love and great intention.

I’ve noticed a common thread that’s running throughout most businesses. They’re treating their email contact list like left over meatloaf. Instead of enjoying their list, nurturing it and allowing it to nourish their business, instead they promote, promote, promote and like most leftovers, they spoil. I can identify with this because I was doing the same thing. So, why did I do this and what conclusions did a draw.

Why Email Marketing is Important:
Mark Brownlow recently reported, “92% of adult US Internet users send or read email and 66% of those email users do so as part of a typical day,” according to the Pew Internet and American Life Project data. Hubspot reported 59% of B2B marketers said email is the most effective channel in generating revenue. As I continue to study and learn from some of the greatest Internet Marketers of my time, such as Frank Kern and Brendon Burchard, email marketing seems to be resounding at the core of their success. As you can see from the statistics email marketing should be a major focus of passionate people and business owners.

So how did I treat email marketing like leftover meatloaf and what can you learn from it?

Neglected it. I’ve definitely neglected leftovers in my fridge for way too long before. If I’m completely honest, I’ve grown things in my fridge. I wouldn’t recommend it… Until I had an epiphany, I was neglecting my email list. I would send them promotion after promotion, but not really help my email list. I didn’t think about my list as my friends. If you know me, I help my friends and I’d do anything for them. With me, friends are family. Once I stopped neglecting my list and started thinking about them as friends, magic unfolded.

Prior to that moment, when I’d receive a business card from a networking event, I’d bring it home, enter the person’s name into Aweber, send them a great to meet you email and then I usually forgot about them until I sent out a blast promotion email. Big mistake. Treat your email list as friends. Your emails should help them solve a problem. It’s okay to promote to them, but help as well.

Overlooked it. I’ve opened the fridge before looking for a tasty snack. Nothing caught my eye, so I went over to the pantry instead and grabbed the peanut butter to enjoy a sandwich. About a month later, I discovered the clear container in the fridge. Oh yeah…I overlooked my leftovers I wanted to save for a snack… Maybe you can identify with this?

Many times email marketing is treated the same way. I know from past experience, I was overlooking my email list all the time. I was thinking I had to go out and meet new people, forgetting about the 500 people I met over the past 2 months. This entire time, I could have plugged them into an email sequence, been feeding them valuable info like blog posts, training videos, ebooks, etc, and then when the time came and they needed a solution, BAM I would’ve been right there, top of mind and in their inbox. That was a crucial lesson I learned. Don’t overlook your email list. Cherish them, be asking daily questions like, “How can I add value to my email friends? How can I help get them from point A to B?”

I used it as a Special Ingredient. Left over’s can be used to create some pretty good food. I remember growing up Mom would make some Goolosh. It was pretty legit. I discovered when I thought strategically about email marketing, it became my special ingredient. The second I started writing emails that actually helped people get solutions or created videos that helped people get from point A to point B, magic was created. I started getting more responses to my emails. People started downloading my ebooks. Basically, my list started responding better to my offers.

I highly encourage you to think about how you can use your email list as a special ingredient. If you’ve been promoting, promoting, promoting, not all hope is lost. Take on a 30 Day Challenge. I LOVE 30 Day Challenges because they help me get results quickly. For the next 30 days, write 1 or two emails per week, where you are training your customer. In your email help them get a solution or point them somewhere they can get a solution. I’m not talking about a product or service here. I mean free helpful solutions. Do this for 3 weeks. On the 4th week offer a sale. Measure your open and click through rates and see if they increase.

Well…those are my thoughts on how email marketing is like left over meatloaf. The metaphor rushed into my consciousness after awaking from a nap. I hope it helps you to have the A-ha moment that I had.
